COVID-19 UPDATE (March 13th 2020)

March 13, 2020

Dear Families

This letter is intended to provide an update to Lincoln Community Preschool families regarding the current COVID-19 mitigation protocols and their potential impact on Lincoln Community Preschool.

Lincoln Community Preschool is licensed by the State of California Health and Human Services Agency Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing and is subject to its mandates. Lincoln Community Preschool is monitoring guidance from this agency, as well as the California Department of Public Health and the County of Placer Public Health Department. Although Lincoln Community Preschool is not under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Education and the Western Placer Unified School District, their recommendations are being monitored.

Due to the small size of the preschool, the goal is to remain open to serve children and families. However, if Lincoln Community Preschool is required to close, the school calendar will be adjusted to continue to offer 180 days of preschool during the calendar year.

At this time, Lincoln Community Preschool has not received any information that children, families or staff have knowingly been in contact with any person who has tested positive for COVID-19. Should that occur Lincoln Community Preschool will take the necessary next steps, including communicating with families.

Parents should always make decisions that are in the best interest of their child and family. Families may wish to limit the number of people who drop off/pick up their child if they are in a high-risk category. Children, those dropping off/picking up and staff should be in good health. Please note, child absences do not impact their enrollment.

Lincoln Community Preschool is taking the following precautions:

  • temporarily discontinued the use of shared sensory materials (such as playdough).

  • placed hand sanitizer in the entry area for adult use. Although, handwashing with soap and water is best practice for all individuals.

  • ensuring daily ventilation of the classrooms and changing our air filters more often.

  • continue to disinfect our classrooms a minimum of 3 times daily. Disinfecting areas include but are not limited to the following: toys, play surfaces, sinks, toilets, drinking fountain, door handles and other commonly used areas.

  • continue to support the children with proper handwashing. Staff are good models of proper handwashing.

  • continue to machine wash all soiled soft materials daily.

  • Continue to practice universal health precautions.

  • continue to follow Eco-Healthy Childcare guidelines.

  • Temporarily suspend the use of our facility by community organizations.

The staff teach the children to “cover their cough” with their elbow. Please help teach this guidance at home too.

Children who show signs of illness should not attend school.

Lincoln Community Preschool was founded to be sensitive to the needs of people with special or health related concerns; this is specifically important since Teacher Casey has an autoimmune disease.

Lincoln Community Preschool values our relationship with families. As always, please contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Kindly,

Teacher Debbie (916) 712-0684

Teacher Casey (916) 878-9693
